If you're looking for one synth to rule them all in terms of sound design, this is not for you. Native Instruments KOMPLETE 13 Software Suite (27300) 4.3 out of 5 stars. I think it's a great value, especially if you can get it at the price you mentioned. There are so many instruments it can take a long time to learn them all - there is no unified editing structure so being true to the original means learning each one individually - not a serious con, but something to consider
Some have a ton of "stomp boxes" and others have 2-D modulation sources for FX. The included presets are often not representative of the original hardware and too often rely on external effectsĮvery instrument seems to handle built-in FX slightly differently and there is little consistency with what they give you with each instrument.
Some emulation of hardware is done better by others (u-he's prophet is miles ahead, for example) Stand-alone player and a great library manager that spans all of the instruments You get a TON of great synths across a wide pallete of sound generation styles from FM to additive to traditional subtractive as well as some acoustics - it's a great value I think the biggest pros of the Collection are:Īll included patches are pre-mapped to controls, and there are a bazillion of them maybe the Synclavier would be something I can't get elsewhere?ĮDIT: Or what about Serum, Omnisphere etc - are those just better bets at this point in 2018? I also don't really care about the DX7, because I have FM8 and an actual DX7IId. There are various versions of Komplete 13, but this is the biggest, giving you 122 instruments and effects, 73 expansions and more than 115,000 sounds. I'm mostly interested in the Buchla (which doesn't map with NKS yet), Matrix, and Jupiter, and don't care hardly at all about the pianos, organs etc. One of the original plugin bundles - and still one of the best - Komplete is Native Instruments' greatest hits collection. I'm just wondering what it's got that my existing NI stuff doesn't cover, or if maybe I should just wait until the Christmas sales to see if they do the same offer?
I've also got an iPad with iSEM, iProphet, Model D, and the full Syntronik set, so I feel like I've got a lot of the classics. I recently got a Native Instruments Kontrol with Komplete regular (Kontakt, Battery, Massive, Absynth, Reaktor, FM8, Guitar Rig etc.) and before that my gateway VST was Repro-5, so I definitely feel like I've got a LOT of synth power already, but I've heard the Arturia V Collection is really good, and can get it for $250.
